Advanced Dance / Vitality is the middle-level dance team at Temecula Valley High School for students who tend to have an average of 3 to 7 years of formal dance training (high school dance, studio dance, etc.). As part of the co-curricular Dance program, students are expected to participate in both class and team activities. As a yearlong, advanced level course, Advanced Dance / Vitality is for students with accomplished dance training and experience. Students at this level have experience in multiple dance expressions and genres. In this course, students will continue to broaden their technical abilities and understanding of a variety of dance styles and refine their knowledge of the elements of choreography and performance, culminating in dance production and performances for live audiences (required). Dancers are expected to challenge themselves, dancing with enthusiasm, energy, and attention to detail at all times.
As a team, Vitality performs at home football games, basketball games, pep rallies, the fall and spring dance concerts, and some off-campus events. Due to their various performances, Vitality has mandatory weekly after school practices as well as additional rehearsals dependent upon their upcoming performances. Since the schedule is not quite as busy as that of Alliance, it is easier for advanced dancers on this team to balance their commitments to outside studios, sports teams, jobs, etc. However, conflicts often do arise, and it is the responsibility of each dancer to keep track of their team and personal schedule in order to clear conflicts in advance.
