About

Temecula Valley High School is the proud home of one of the best high school dance program in the Valley!!!

Comprised of 3 class levels - Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced - the TVHS Dance Program offers students an opportunity to explore and grow as dancers and choreographers in multiple styles of dance. In contrast to technique-driven studio dance programs, high school dance is focused more on the creative elements of dance and helping each individual student find their unique voice through dance. All levels of Dance are open to 9th through 12th grade students enrolled at TVHS.

The Intermediate and Advanced classes are co-curricular classes, which means they meet both during and after school and are attached to the 3 TVHS dance teams - Ignite, Vitality, and Alliance. Students need to be able to commit to the activities outside of normal class hours in order to be successful members of the program. Interested students must either audition or receive teacher approval to place into these classes. Space in these classes is limited, so if there are not enough spots to accommodate all interested students, students may be placed in Beginning Dance for their 1st year in the program. After 1 year in Beginning Dance, if students meet certain requirements, they will automatically earn a spot in Intermediate Dance the following year.

Our alumni go on to dance at the collegiate and professional levels!
Mackenzie Clemens and Alexa Mertzel, class of 2019, as well as Kendal Clemens, class of 2021, all performed as SeaHawks dancers,
and Lizzy Demuth, class of 2020, is a Rams dancer!

Anastasia Lewis, a dancer since the age of 3, has been the TVHS Dance Director since 2015. In 2008, after earning her teaching credential and Masters in Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, she began her teaching career as an English teacher at Fallbrook High School. In order to stay up-to-date with the latest dance knowledge, science, and teaching methods, Ms. Lewis continues her own dance education through her membership in the Connected Arts Network, National Dance Education Organization, California Dance Education Association, CLI Studios, and more.

In addition to running the Dance program, she served as TVHS Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair from 2018-2020. Furthermore, Ms. Lewis is  passionate about educating and supporting ALL students and works to educate herself and others about the issues of equity and access.

Outside of work, Ms. Lewis enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, their three sons, and their many pets.
